QPR Taken Over by Tony Fernandes

Air Asia owner, Tony Fernandes has completed the takeover of QPR from Flavio Briatore.  Of course, this is a case of sod's law after I recently stated that QPR are one of my tips for relegation - I actually think they'll finish dead last!

After only owning the club for a matter of minutes, the transfer speculation began with rumours of moves for Joey Barton and Scott Parker.  Although rich, this guy is actually significantly less rich than former shareholders, Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone.  That should be a worry for QPR fans - although far be it from me to spoil the takeover party.  Fernandes is reportedly only worth a mere £300 million - around the sum Abramovich has already invested on players alone!

I think QPR need to invest at least £15 million in order to give the club a chance of survival so it will be interesting to see exactly how much will be made available.  Scott Parker is definitely the calibre of player that will give Rangers a fighting chance.  Add Barton and a top striker and I may be forced to change my relegation predictions.

I'm actually happy this takeover has gone through.  QPR are a decent club with a rich history.  I must be one of the very few to actually like Mr Warnock so I would take some pleasure in being proven wrong regarding their survival chances.  Football doesn't have enough characters who genuinely make you chuckle.  Warnock has a very dry sense of humour and a biting honesty that can shock from time to time.  He is also a very good maanger with a fantastic track record of gaining promotion - although his record for relegation is pretty good too...

Until QPR bring in four or five new faces, I don't think I'll be changing my relegation prediction - but I'll be happy to be proven wrong.
